The SharedForestproject is aimed at increasing public awareness of commoning – both as a modern farming system and as an important part of the New Forest’s cultural heritage. We want to encourage local residents and visitors to better understand commoning and help safeguard our animals grazing on the open Forest.
Our primary aim is to educate and inform through:
A Commoning EducationToolkit designed for 4 to 11 year olds in schools and other educational situations -click here
Campaign initiatives aimed at the general public. These now include:
Leaflets to share information about commoning and our animals with local residents and visitors -click here
Leaflets to share advice about safe driving on the unfenced roads, keeping dogs under control, not leaving rubbish on the Forest, not feeding ponies and other animals on the Forest -click here
